Kids’ Gut-friendly Overnight Oats
Overnight oats are a fantastic breakfast option for kids too, and they’re easy to prepare ahead of time! It’s a breakfast full of gut-friendly ingredients like oats and dates, and adding toppings, and is a great way to add in a few extra plant foods to support gut health - it is also a great way to get the children involved!
The oats support gut health by providing fiber that feeds beneficial bacteria and helps maintain healthy digestion, while dates are a sweet way to care for your little ones’ gut! Their fibre feeds the good bacteria in the gut, helps maintain regular bowel movements and supports a healthy, balanced microbiome. Just eat them in moderation for the best balance.
Plus, overnight oats are really flexible, so you can easily personalize them to suit each children’s taste – add sweet berries, grated apple or even a little honey to make it just right. Best of all, they’re packed with fibre, protein and nutrients, giving kids a healthy, balanced start to their day that keeps them energized and satisfied.
Ingredients
- 1 cup oats
- 1 ½ cup milk (or plant-based milk alternative)
- Handful of dates
- 2 heaped dessert spoons Greek yoghurt
Toppings
- Berries
- Peanut butter / any nut butter
- Grated apple
- Banana
- Honey
- Stewed fruit such as apples, pears or plums

Instructions
Mix all base ingredients together, leave covered in the fridge overnight.
